COLORADO SPRINGS — A cyclist is dead following a crash Tuesday night on the north side of Colorado Springs.
At 7:53 p.m. Colorado Springs police was notified of a traffic crash involving a vehicle and bicycle in the 1300 block of North Wahsatch Ave.
According to police, a northbound blue Dodge sedan struck the northbound bicyclist. The cyclist has been identified as 65-year-old Henry G. Guzman of Colorado Springs. Guzman was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.
Neither excessive speeds nor impairment are considered factors in this case.
This is the fifth traffic related fatality in Colorado Springs, and the first bicycle related fatality, this year. At this time last year, there were nine traffic related fatalities.
No charges have been filed at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
