COLORADO SPRINGS — Spooky season is upon us and that means families in our area have decorated their homes just in time for Halloween and this weekend's trick-or-treaters. However one Colorado Springs home on the city's west side is choosing the tricks over the treats for the holiday.

The Svenby family told News5, they like to decorate big on holidays, especially for Halloween and Christmas. Plus, given the tough year of 2020, they wanted to go above and beyond. Their thrilling display includes three 12-foot skeletons outside, a mini graveyard, large pumpkins, and plenty of other Halloween decorations.

The display is so big that it has caught the attention of many neighbors in town who drive by.

"We're just going for a morning ride and stopped by to see the skeleton house quite a bit of times," said Monica Trujillo. "The big skeletons of course, those are the ones that are most fascinating."

The family says the display and all of the decorations took about 13 hours to put up. Whether people pay a visit during the day or at night, its a site to see for all ages.

"At night, it's all lit up, and they have a fog machine, the big skeletons, their eyes are green and everything's glowing, it's super cool," said Trujillo.

"It's fabolous, I'm just amazed how they decorated and it's just so cool," said Teresa Trujillo. "I just thought it was awesome, the huge skeletons and the skeletons climbing up the trees were just like, this is so cool, it's different."

The family told me they're ready for Halloween, and they've put together trick-or-treat bags filled with candy so the kids can pick them up.
