Forecast: Twas the night before the night before Christmas, and all the through the region, patchy clouds pass through and temps stay average for the season. Stockings are hung by the chimney with care, and while dry through Christmas, ’tis possible Wednesday and Friday will be bears.

It is Tuesday Night through early Saturday that garners attention. A new storm in the Pacific will dive south into Arizona and New Mexico Tuesday. The computer guidance we use seems set on it growing far and wide, and vertically too. At this point, I feel confident that accumulating snow will begin Wednesday morning, but it is actually still possible for enough above freezing air to be a part, that some rain could mix in, daytime. This will reduce accumulations to near zero. But, absent rain, it looks like enough to shovel. My gut says, rain reduces the amount. It turns colder that night, but moisture dries up to flurries Wednesday night in to Thursday. Then, a second storm repeats the scenario, but in much colder air, so that is all snow, and would accumulate, Friday.

Mountain snows, tonight, midweek

It is all snow for the mountains, and the further west or south you are or go, the more accumulating snow you will see. Snow in the mountains tonight, several inches. More  Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. The I-25 cities could see several inches (if all snow) Wednesday, and more than a few Friday (will be all snow.) While it tapers to just flurries Thursday, it’s possible the Plains actually eak out some sun, between storms.

COLORADO SPRINGS:  Low – 23. High – 46. Partly cloudy tonight. Clouds Monday morning, partly sunny PM.

PUEBLO:  Low – 19, High – 52. Partly cloudy tonight. Clouds Monday morning, partly sunny PM.
