Today’s Forecast

After yesterday’s cool down, today will be a tad milder, and bright for most of the day, but another cold front is going to give us another thermal cliff,  dumping temperatures into the low to mid-50s by day, and mid-30s by night.  In elevations above 8500 feet, and especially at night, light precipitation will fall as wet snow! And while precipitation will be light, the risk will be somewhat frequent late Saturday evening, on and off Sunday & Monday, because of a large, complex, multi storm system that will dumbbell around each other, and have the net effect of keeping the overall, spinning in place. Now, it is worth mentioning, that rain (and snow) will be far more frequent over and west of the Divide, than I-25 to the Plains, because the mountains will block a lot of the steadier action.

Meanwhile, Friday will be a tad warmer, and bright through early afternoon…but a late day storm is a distinct possibility.

Colorado Springs: High: 72, Low 38. Sunny through early afternoon, clouding up…late day T-storm.

Pueblo: High: 82. Low: 44. Sunny through early afternoon, clouding up a little, late.

Canon City: High: 79, Low: 40. Sunny through early afternoon, clouding up a little, late.

Woodland Park: High: 62, Low: 33. Sunny through early afternoon, clouding up…late day T-storm.

Tri-Lakes: High: 68, Low: 35. Sunny through early afternoon, clouding up…late day T-storm.

The Plains: High: 84, Low: 44. Sunny through early afternoon, clouding up by evening.

Trinidad/Walsenburg: High: 82, Low: 40. Sunny through early afternoon, clouding up tonight.

Extended Outlook…Saturday through Monday, a series of low-pressure systems are going to pinwheel around each other and will get cut off from the general jet stream circulation, allowing these mini storms to dumb-bell around each other, for several days, over the Rockies. What this means for us is cloudy, very cool, and occasionally showery weather in that time period. It will take several days to break up the pattern. So, expect cold showers Saturday night, Sunday, and Monday. Most of the frequent action will be in the mountains, with the Plains getting the rain-shadow, but still…the risk is there too.
