Just two southern Colorado teams were in action last weekend as they continued their quest for a state title.

Third-ranked Palmer Ridge won a thriller against second-ranked Montrose Saturday to advance to the Class 4A state championship game! The Bears, who won Soco League 2, remain undefeated on the season with a 13-0 record.

The Bears advance and will play top-ranked Dakota Ridge, who is also undefeated, on Saturday. Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m. at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins.

FINAL: Limon Badgers 14, Buena Vista Demons 10

The Limon Badgers are Class 1A state champions! Limon, who entered the game ranked second in Class 1A, defeated top-ranked Buena Vista at CSU Pueblo in a thriller last Saturday. It was the Demons only loss of the season.

The game was a rematch of a contest that happened during the regular season. Buena Vista won that game at home by the final score of 13-10. The Badgers, who won the North Central League, finished the season 12-1 overall and won their third state title in the last four years.

Several southern Colorado high schools were in action last weekend making a push for a state championship.

Third-ranked Palmer Ridge advances to the semifinals after defeating Broomfield last Saturday. The Class 4A Soco League 2 champions remain undefeated on the season with a 12-0 record.

The Bears advance and will travel for the first time in the playoffs to take on second-ranked Montrose. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The Cyclones season came to an end on Saturday after a loss to top-ranked Dakota Ridge. Pueblo West, who was ranked eighth in Class 4A and finished third in Soco League 1, finished 8-4 on the season.

Pueblo South's season came to an end Saturday after a loss to top-ranked Windsor. The Colts, who were ranked ninth in Class 3A and won the Pikes Peak League, finished the season 9-3 overall.

The Classical Academy's effort to repeat as state champions fell short on Saturday after a loss to second-ranked Wellington. The Titans, who were ranked third in Class 2A and won the Metro League, finished the season 11-1 overall.

FINAL: Wray Eagles 21, Limon Badgers 35

Second-ranked Limon advances to the state championship game after defeating Wray on Saturday. The Class 1A North Central League champions improved to 11-1 overall.

The Badgers will take on top-ranked Buena Vista for the Class 1A title. Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m. at the CSU Pueblo Thunderbowl.

FINAL: McClave Cardinals 8, Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs 50

McClave's season came to an end Saturday after a loss to Haxtun. The Cardinals, who were ranked third in 8-Man and won the Arkansas Valley League, finished the season with an 11-1 record.

The Tigers chance for a repeat state title ended Saturday after a heartbreaking loss against Stratton. Cheyenne Wells, who was ranked third in 6-Man and won the Southeast League, finished the season 10-2 overall.

FINAL: Mullen Mustangs 21, Pine Creek Eagles 18

Pine Creek's season came to an end Friday night after losing a heart-breaker to 10th ranked Mullen. The Eagles finished the season 7-4 overall after having a bye last week.

After receiving a first-round bye, the Cyclones didn't skip a beat as they won a close battle with Northfield 16-14 on Friday night. With the win, Pueblo West improved to 8-3 on the season.

Pueblo West, who is ranked eighth in Class 4A, advances to take on top-seeded Dakota Ridge. Kick-off is at 7 p.m. Friday at Jeffco Stadium.

FINAL: Mesa Ridge Grizzlies 16, Palmer Ridge Bears 19

Palmer Ridge squeaked out a victory over rival Mesa Ridge Friday night. The Class 4A Soco League 2 foes met for the second time this season. The Bears won the first match-up earlier this season 35-7.

The Grizzlies finish the season 6-6 on the season. They defeated Loveland in the first round of the playoffs.

The Bears improve to a perfect 11-0 on the season after having a bye in the first round of the playoffs. They will face sixth-ranked Broomfield at noon on Saturday at Don Breese Stadium in the quarterfinals.

Vista Ridge had their season come to end Friday night after losing to Broomfield. The Wolves, who finished third in the Class 4A Soco League 2, finished the season 8-4 overall.

Ninth-ranked Pueblo South won a thrilling shootout on the road Friday to advance to the second round of the Class 3A playoffs. The Colts defeated eighth-ranked Conifer 50-42.

The Colts, who won the Class 3A Pikes Peak League, improve to 9-2 overall. They will face top-ranked Windsor in the second round on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Lewis-Palmer's season came to an end Saturday afternoon after losing to fourth-ranked Mead. The Rangers finished the season with a 6-5 record, and they took second place in the Class 3A Pikes Peak League.

Pueblo County snapped a playoff drought, but lost their first round contest at sixth-ranked Roosevelt. The Hornets finish the season 7-4 overall, and they took second place in the Class 3A Southern League.

Coronado's season came to an end Saturday after a loss at Pomona. The Cougars, who won the Class 3A Southern League, finished the season 7-4 overall.

Third-ranked The Classical Academy won an overtime thriller at home against Kent Denver. The Titans remain perfect on the season, improving to 11-0.

The Class 2A Metro League champions advance to the semifinals where they will visit Wellington. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday.

Second-ranked Limon won at Monte Vista on Saturday to reach the Class 1A state semifinals. With the win, the Class 1A North Central League champions improved to 10-1 overall.

Limon will host North Central League rival and defending state champion Wray in the semifinals. The Badgers beat Wray 28-7 earlier this season. Kickoff for the semifinal game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday.

FINAL: Norwood Mavericks 14, McClave Cardinals 44

Third-ranked McClave advanced to the semifinals Saturday with a win against Norwood. The Cardinals, who won the 8-Man Arkansas Valley League, remain perfect on the season.

McClave advances to take on Haxtun on the road in the semifinals. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.

Eighth-ranked Sierra Grande's season came to an end Saturday after losing to Idalia. The Panthers, who won the 6-Man Southwest League title, finished the season 10-2 overall.

After upsetting Eads in the first round, 11th ranked Branson/Kim's season came to an end Saturday at home. The Bearcats, who finished second in the 6-Man Southwest League, finished the season 7-4 overall.

The Tigers, who are the reigning 6-Man state champions and won the Southeast League, improved to 10-1 overall.

Cheyenne Wells advances to take on Stratton, which will be a rematch of the last two state title games. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. Saturday. Stratton was the only team to beat the Tigers during the regular season.

Friday Football Fever continues this week as Class 3A schools finish the regular season, and all other classifications began their quest for a state title!

Game of the Week is the Discovery Canyon Thunder vs the Pueblo South Colts. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Dutch Clark Stadium.

With a win, the Colts will clinch the Class 3A Pikes Peak League title. If the Thunder win, they will share the league title with Pueblo South and Lewis-Palmer.

Both teams enter the match-up 7-2 overall. The Colts are 4-0 in league play, and the Thunder are 3-1 with their only league loss coming against Lewis-Palmer.

Pueblo South has wins against Falcon, Pueblo East, Skyline, Palmer, Pueblo Centennial, Harrison and Lewis-Palmer. Their two non-league losses were against Mead and Pueblo County.

Discovery Canyon's other loss on the season was against Widefield. They beat Pueblo Central, Pueblo East, Rampart, Pueblo County, Pueblo Centennial, Harrison and Palmer this season.

Friday Football Fever continues this week as southern Colorado teams make their final push for the playoffs!

Game of the Week is the Buena Vista Demons taking on the Colorado Springs Christian Lions. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Friday at UCCS.

The winner of Friday's contest will win the Class 1A Tri-Peaks League. Both teams are 3-0 in league play, each beating Ellicott, Rye and Peyton.

The Demons are a perfect 8-0 on the season, with non-league wins over Salida, Platte Valley, Centauri, Limon and Steamboat Springs.

The Lions are 6-2 overall with losses to Limon and Class 2A's Florence. They defeated Holyoke, Platte Canyon, and Class 2A's Woodland Park in non-league play.

Game of the Week is the Lewis-Palmer Rangers taking on the Discovery Canyon Thunder. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at ASD20 Stadium.

The Rangers enter the contest 4-3 overall, and 2-0 in the Class 3A Pikes Peak League. Lewis-Palmer won their first two games of the season against Rampart and Coronado, and they beat Harrison and Palmer to start league play.

Lewis-Palmer's three losses were to 4A Palmer Ridge, Holy Family and Mead, who are both ranked in the top five in Class 3A.

The Thunder enter the match-up 6-1 on the season, and they are also 2-0 in the Pikes Peak League. Their only loss on the year was against 4A Widefield.

Discovery Canyon started the season with a four game winning streak, beating Pueblo Central, Pueblo East, Rampart and Pueblo County. They beat Pueblo Centennial and Harrison in league play.

Game of the Week is the Palmer Ridge Bears taking on the Vista Ridge Wolves. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Friday at Vista Ridge High School.

The winner of the game will take the lead in the Class 4A Southern Colorado 2 league.

The Bears are a perfect 7-0 on the season, and they are 2-0 in league play. Palmer Ridge is coming off victories over Air Academy and Durango to start league play. They beat Ponderosa, Doherty, Lewis-Palmer, Longmont and Mesa Ridge in non-league competition.

The Wolves enter Friday's contest 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the league. Vista Ridge's only loss came to Pueblo West in Week 4. Vista Ridge is coming off league wins over Liberty and Rampart, and they defeated Columbine, Montbello, Evanston (Wyoming), and Denver South in non-league play.

Game of the Week is the Sand Creek Scorpions taking on the Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Cheyenne Mountain High School.

Both teams enter the match-up a perfect 6-0 and 1-0 in I-25 league play. The winner of Friday's game will remain undefeated and also gain a huge advantage towards clinching the league title.

Sand Creek's league win came last week at home against Thornton. The Scorpions finished non-league play perfectly with victories over Denver East, Harrison, Air Academy, Widefield, and Palmer.

The Red-Tailed Hawks picked up a huge league win last week against Centaurus. On the season, they have beaten Widefield, Pueblo Centennial, Coronado, Caon City, and Doherty.

Friday Football Fever continues Thursday and into the weekend as southern Colorado teams continue their seasons!

Game of the Week is the Centaurus Warriors taking on the Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. at Cheyenne Mountain High School.

Centaurus makes the trip from Lafayette as they look to get their fifth win of the season. Their only loss of the year was at Monarch.

The Red-Tailed Hawks are undefeated on the season and look to improve to 6-0.

Cheyenne Mountain has defeated Widefield, Pueblo Centennial, Coronado, Caon City, and Doherty.

Also this week, the Lamar Thunder host the La Junta Tigers tonight at 7:00 p.m. in one of the oldest high school football rivalries west of the Mississippi River.

Game of the Week is the Bell Game between Pueblo Centennial and Pueblo Central.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Dutch Clark Stadium.

The Wildcats have possession of the bell, winning last year's matchup 56-0. The Bulldogs look to make the bell ring red for the first time since 2018.

Both teams enter the oldest rivalry west of the Mississippi 1-3 overall. Pueblo Central defeated Alamosa in Week 3 and has lost to Discovery Canyon, Eaton, and Moorpark (California) this season.

Pueblo Centennial's victory came at Sierra. The Bulldogs have lost to La Junta, Cheyenne Mountain, and Coronado this season.

Sierra enters the matchup 1-2 overall with losses to Elizabeth and Pueblo Centennial. The Stallions defeated Palmer in Week 2 by the final score of 12-7.

Harrison looks to get their first win of the season, as they have lost to Sand Creek, George Washington, and Pueblo County.

Game of the Week is the Cannon Game between the Pueblo East Eagles and the Pueblo South Colts. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Friday at Dutch Clark Stadium.

The Colts are 1-1 on the season, coming off of a 40-17 victory at Falcon last week. The Colts lost their season opener to Mead, who were last year's state runner-up.

Pueblo East is also 1-1 on the year. They won their opener at Fort Morgan, but lost a heartbreaker 22-20 last week against Discovery Canyon.

The Eagles are currently in possession of the cannon after defeating the Colts last year, 21-15. The Colts had the cannon heading into last year's contest.

Friday Football Fever continues Thursday and into the weekend as all southern Colorado teams return to the gridiron!

Game of the Week is the Discovery Canyon Thunder taking on the Pueblo Central Wildcats at Dutch Clark Stadium.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. on Friday.

It's the first game of the season for both teams, and they're coming off playoff appearances in 2024.

The Thunder finished 9-3 overall last season and won the Pikes Peak League with a 5-0 record. They lost in the quarterfinals of the playoffs to Thompson Valley, who went on to win the Class 3A state title.

The Wildcats also finished 9-3 last season, and they were second in the Southern League. They lost in the quarterfinals to Mead, the state runner-up in Class 3A, by the final score of 34-23.
