COLORADO SPRINGS – The Colorado Springs Sky Sox will announce their next team name later this month after weeks of anticipation.

The team announced it is unveiling a new team name in a ceremony on Nov. 19. Along with the new name, new logos colors, merchandise and the 2019 schedule will be unveiled.

In June, the Sky Sox announced five finalists for the new name, which were:

  • Colorado Springs Happy Campers
  • Colorado Springs Lamb Chops
  • Colorado Springs Punchy Pikas
  • Colorado Springs Throttle Jockeys
  • Rocky Mountain Oysters

According to the organization, the winner will be decided on originality, creativity, regional relevance and “appropriateness” for the fan base.

“Our goal was to create a new identity that reflected Colorado Springs’ heritage and the type of organization we are building, steeped in family fun and entertainment at an affordable price,” said General Manager Chris Phillips said in a news release. “The winning name is something fun, modern, and ultimately different, that the community will be able to rally behind and take pride in as we usher in this exciting new era of professional baseball in Colorado Springs.”

The new team will be the Rookie-Advanced affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. The 2018 season was the final season the Sky Sox will play as an AAA affiliate.

The Sky Sox used to be an affiliate of the Colorado Rockies from 1993 to the 2014 season.
