Grace McReynolds has one objective when she steps on to a soccer field: score goals for Rampart.

“Probably say this last season I scored a lot more goals than usual but it’s nice – can’t complain!” McReynolds said.

It was always about scoring goals?

“Yep – always scoring goals.”

And she’s got a bunch of them this season. McReynolds leads the Rams with 10 goals so far and scored the winning goal vs. Arvada West in a 1-0 victory in the opening round of the 5A Girls Soccer playoffs.

“It was awesome,” McReynolds said. “Obviously, haven’t made it past that in a while and to have that goal and being up is awesome.”

“She does as much in the attack as she does defensively as well so she’s kind of our all-around player, our utility player,” said Rampart Head Coach Carisa Whitson. “When we need some more attack we can always look to her to get in the box, but defensively she’s the first one sprinting back to get back and help our back four.”

Grace has helped Rampart stay undefeated this season, the only team in 5A without a loss.

McReynolds has helped the Rams stay undefeated so far this season – 15-0 – the only team in 5A without a loss this season.

“Every game was like, ‘oh my gosh, I don’t want to lose,’ and obviously in the playoffs it’s lose and you go home, so it’s just continuing forward to score and win.

At first it was like let’s make it to playoffs and then let’s make it past the first round and we just kept on winning and by the end of the season, it was definitely our goal to stay undefeated.”

Rampart will play Windsor Friday at 6pm in the second round of the 5A Playoffs.
