3 Ways Dentures Can Dramatically Improve Your Life

People with severe dental problems are sometimes too embarrassed or afraid to consider dentures – but it’s a solution that could significantly improve their quality of life.

“Probably one of the most life-changing things people can do is changing their smile. Dentures alone make life so much better,” says Dr. Michael Bull of Prestige Dental Centers. He and fellow dentist Dr. Sterling Rogers have restored thousands of smiles at their practice, which has locations in Colorado Springs and Pueblo.

In addition to traditional dentures, which simply rest on the gums, Prestige Dental Centers also offer implant-supported dentures, which are anchored securely to the bone through implants. Implant-supported dentures come with attachments that are easy to remove and clean.

After you’ve come in to consult with the doctors, the implant dentures can be placed in just one surgical visit, which is they’re also known as “same day dentures” or “one day dentures.”  Patients can always try starting with traditional dentures and then come back later for implants. (Prices vary and depending on patients’ specific needs a solution is made to fit their specific wants and goals.)

Here are three ways dentures can improve your quality of life:

1. They can significantly relieve pain

“When patients come in, a lot of them have lived with pain for years. You’d be shocked,” Dr. Bull says. “It’s amazing what people will endure in their mouth before they come in.”

Dr. Rogers and Dr. Bull encourage people to let go of any fear or embarrassment.

The most common response they hear from patients who were expecting a bad experience is, “Jeez, that wasn’t bad at all!”

2. They make eating easier

Simply put, when you don’t have all your teeth, you just can’t eat all the foods you’d like to. With dental implants, you can enjoy your favorite foods again without worrying.

Plus, dentures could help your overall health. Patients have said they limited themselves to eating soft, unhealthy foods like Twinkies before the implants. After getting dentures, they were able to eat a wider variety of healthy foods.

3. They’ll restore your confidence

For Dr. Bull and Dr. Rogers, by far the most gratifying change they see in patients is a restored sense of self confidence. They can feel great showing off their smiles and, in many cases, feel like their old selves again.

“The biggest change is having that self-confidence back,” Dr. Bull says. “They can eat, smile, talk to people, and not be embarrassed by what they look like.

For quite a few patients, Dr. Bull adds, “It’s been life-altering.”
