COLORADO SPRINGS — Friday, Colorado Springs Police released audio and body camera footage from a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred on Highway 115 near Fort Carson.

The incident began as a road-rage call on Nov. 4.

Officers responding to the call located a vehicle near Fort Carson's Gate 2 off O'Connell Boulevard. Police said when 33-year-old Dean Trasente exited the car he was holding a handgun.

Body-camera footage shows officers telling him to drop the gun before he eventually enters a police vehicle.

Officers are able to stop him from leaving in that vehicle. When he gets out, a taser is deployed and then shots are fired.

The video then shows officers beginning firs-aid efforts.

The case is currently under review by the District Attorney's Office. CSPD said they don't normally release this type of video until the DA has made a final determination, but in this case, they felt it was in the public's best interest to release the footage now.

The audio and body-cam footage released by CSPD can be found here.
