COLORADO SPRINGS – A local head start program is getting a big outdoor upgrade starting Wednesday.

Volunteer construction workers will start building a new playground at Evans Elementary School as part of the AGC Charities Inc. Autodesk Operation Opening Doors project.

The volunteer contractors will double the size of the current playground and add a new tricycle race track and other interactive features for the kids.

The volunteers are being organized and led by the Emerging Leaders Council of the Colorado Contractors Association and the local highway and infrastructure chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America.

These efforts are supported by AGC Charitites Inc. this year to coincide with the annual convention of the Associated General Contractors of America taking place in Denver next month.
