SALIDA – CDOT tweeted that crews have finished up avalanche mitigation efforts and Highway 50 is back open in both directions on Monarch Pass.
The road was closed multiple times Friday morning after an avalanche just east of Monarch Mountain happened just a little after 4 a.m. No vehicles were caught in the slide.
CDOT then performed avalanche mitigation efforts along the stretch of the road throughout the morning. Those efforts closed the road until about 9 a.m.
