Tokyo Olympic officials welcomed to Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS – Olympic City, USA played host to officials from the next Olympic games — the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

Mayor John Suthers and American athletes welcomed Consul General Midori Takeuchi, along with Kumamon, the mascot of the Tokyo games.

The meeting was to celebrate our international relationship and to stir up excitement for the games.

Gold medalist and world champion para-triathlete Allysa Seely said she’s looking forward to the games. “We get to go this summer and race the course which will be awesome,” she said. “We get a little preview of what it will be during the games without all the crowds and the combustion. Really what I’m looking forward to is the culture and friendliness of the people there it’s amazing”

The countdown is already on for the 2020 games, with 526 days until Opening Ceremonies.
