COLORADO SPRINGS – Tuesday, the Colorado Springs City Council approved a rate increase for Colorado Springs Utilities customers.
According to Springs Utilities, City Council voted 8-0 to increase gas and electric rates.
The typical residential customer will see an increase of about $7.46/ month, $1.54 for electric and $5.92 for natural gas.
The typical commercial customer will see the ECA increase by $13.20 or 2.3 percent per month, based on monthly use of 6,000 kWh. The GCA increase is $122.39 or 21.7 percent per month, based on 1240 Ccf monthly use.
Colorado Springs Utilities said they expect the price for natural gas to decrease as the weather warms this Spring. They also anticipate to decrease the GCA and ECA for a May 1, 2019 implementation.
