COLORADO SPRINGS – With all of the holiday madness, Giving Tuesday is a day designated to encourage you to help make someone’s day a little better by sharing a little kindness.

If you are looking to help out at home, the City of Colorado Springs has a suggestion that will help the homeless.

“Not only will it keep people warm, but it will save lives this winter,” said Andrew Phelps, Homeless Response Coordinator.

They say rather than give handouts, we should donate to Help COS. The goal is to give more than 500 unsheltered homeless a place to sleep.

“Money given to the campaign will go directly to shelter bed in our community,” Phelps said.

It was earlier this year when the city announced Help COS, a partnership with the Springs Rescue Mission and the Salvation Army. The program raises money for those in need.

Giving is easy, just visit the Help COS page on the city’s website.
