Record breaking number of travelers expected this Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is tomorrow and a record number of travels are expected on the roads and in the skies! In fact, this Thanksgiving period is the busiest in over 12 years.

Travel times could be up to four times longer this weekend and here’s why!

According to AAA, over 900,000 Coloradans will travel 50 miles or more this Thanksgiving.

Expect fuller skies this year! Nearly 60,000 Coloradans plan on flying for the holiday. Keep in mind, Denver is ranked the 5th busiest airport in the country, so expect extra traffic in route and at the airport. If you’re flying out of the Colorado Springs Airport, they’ve added some perks for their holiday travelers!

“We’re offering 50% off holiday parking in November and December,” said Aidan Ryan with the Colorado Springs Airport. “That’s just a nice little perk to say thank you for choosing to fly COS.”

If you’re hitting the roads be ready for some extra drive time. Over 800,000 Colorado travelers are planning a road trip. If you want avoid the traffic the best time to travel is Thanksgiving day, Friday or Saturday.
