LITTLETON – At least 7 people are injured and fire crews battled massive flames at a two-alarm fire at yet another retirement community in the Denver Metro area this morning.
The fire broke out at the Southview Towers sometime after 5:00 a.m.in the community designed for people aged 55-years and older.
The complex is located at 5829 South Datura just off of Littleton Blvd. South Metro Fire is reporting a large number casualties at this time.
This is the fire at a retirement community in less than 24-hours. One unit was destroyed and numerous others were damaged in a possible natural gas explosion at Heather Gardens off of I-225 and Iliff Avenue on Friday night.
Update – All evacuated residents are being sheltered at 5804 S. Datura St. This is considered a “MCI” mass casualty incident due to the number of patients and potential patients at this large senior housing building.
