EL PASO COUNTY – El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man in connection to a shooting early Friday morning off of I-25 near the Ray Nixon Power Plant.
Deputies received a report from a victim who said he was shot by 47-year-old Albert Leckenby during an argument by the interstate around 4:14 a.m. Deputies later found Leckenby at his home off of Piute Road near Cheyenne Mountain State Park and arrested him without incident.
The victim of the shooting was taken to the hospital. The person’s condition was not released by authorities.
He was booked in the El Paso County jail on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault.
El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Natalie Sosa tells News 5 this is not being investigated as a road rage incident.
