COLORADO SPRINGS- It’s one of the most unique programs for teaching kids about science, technology and math, otherwise known as STEM. The Challenger Learning Center is getting a makeover. The center simulates different missions throughout the year and they’re newest mission is landing on Mars.
Lockheed Martin is donating one-hundred fifty thousand dollars to make improvements to their spaceship and control center. The mars makeover is coinciding with Lockheed’s landing a real Mars lander on November 26th.
They estimate the simulator will educate about four-hundred thousand students over the next fifty years.
The challenger learning center is part of a network of STEM-oriented simulators in our nation, acting as memorials for the challenger crew that was lost in 1986.
