COLORADO SPRINGS – One man is in custody after police said he hit an officer in the head with a broom handle Thursday night.
Colorado Spring Police were dispatched to the Walmart near Palmer Park and Powers Blvd. around 10:30 p.m. Thursday for a report of a disturbance.
When they arrived on scene, they found a man carrying a broom handle and threatening store employees and officers.
Police tried to arrest the suspect, 29-year-old Jonathan Pazerekas, but in the process an officer was struck in the head with a broom.
The officer was treated and released from the hospital.
