PUEBLO WEST – Two people are dead and another person has minor injuries after an accident involving a stolen Honda and a Dodge Ram pickup truck in Pueblo West Tuesday night.

The accident happened at S. McCulloch Blvd. and John Powell Blvd. at about 9:15 p.m. 38-year-old Frankie Hernandez was driving the stolen car. Hernandez was actually featured on the Safe Streets Wanted Criminal Roundup on October 26th, and was wanted on two no-bond warrants for vehicle theft. He was transported to the hospital and later died.

40-year old Catherine Tafoya was a passenger in the car. She was killed in the accident.

A preliminary investigation indicated Hernandez was traveling west on John Powell Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit by the Dodge truck, which was traveling south on McCulloch Boulevard.

Drugs, alcohol and speed are being considered factors in the accident.
