PUEBLO COUNTY – A 53-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of a single-car crash on Highway 50 Saturday night.

Tommy E Lopez of Fowler was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead just before 7 p.m. Saturday. Colorado State Patrol said Lopez was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound on the highway near 68th lane when he drove off the left side of the road.

This caused the Jeep to roll onto its roof ejecting Lopez from the car. The passenger, 33-year-old Anthony Lopez of La Junta, was extracted and transported to a local hospital for serious injuries.

This was approximately 26 miles east of Pueblo.

Investigators say drugs and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors in the crash, but the incident remains under investigation.
