DENVER – Suspects in an auto theft in Denver were able to get away from officers and carjack a woman in Denver International Airport’s Pikes Peak Shuttle Lot early Wednesday morning.

A Denver Police spokesman says officers were in the process of trying to talk to the suspect around 1:15 on East 75th Ave when the suspects fired shots towards the officers, then ran off. DPD’s Doug Schepman says the officers did not return fire.

As officers were trying to find the suspects they carjacked the woman, who suffered a cut to the head in the confrontation.

Her car was found abandoned nearby. As of 6:30 a.m., Denver Police have not found the suspects.
