COLORADO SPRINGS – El Paso County announced Wednesday that the El Pomar Foundation will offer $250,000 in assistance to residents who experienced damage from recent severe storms.
People who experienced damage from flooding and hail storms in July and August 2018 in El Paso County and Teller County can qualify for assistance in situations where federal, state and insurance assistance is not available.
El Paso County opened a temporary hail assistance center Thursday at the El Paso County Citizens Service Center to accept applications for financial help.
That center is located at 1675 West Garden of the Gods Road in Room 1019 and will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday. The center could open for additional days next week depending on demand.
Those applying for assistance will need to provide the following:
- For damaged vehicles: Bring a driver’s license or other government issued photo ID, a photo of their vehicle including their license plate, vehicle registration for the damaged vehicle..
- For damaged homes: Bring a driver’s license or other government issued ID, a photo of your damaged home with the address number visible and a proof of home ownership (mortgage statement or property tax statement)
- For proof of temporary lodging: Bring a driver’s license or other photo government issued ID, a photo of a damaged home and proof that temporary lodging was provided.

Assistance will be capped at $1,250 per household. El Paso County’s Fraud Investigation Unit will determine eligibility.
