Ski Cooper is completely open on its opening day

LEADVILLE – Not only did Ski Cooper open on Friday, it opened 100 percent of its terrain, while more snow fell in the high country.

Ski Cooper relies entirely on natural snow in order to open, and it’s the latest ski area in Colorado to open early in 2018.

Ski Cooper will be open Friday through Sunday and it will be open the following weekend as well. Following that, the ski area will be open from Dec. 8 until closing day.

It will remain closed during the weekdays in early December until Dec. 8.

The 400-acre ski area has a high base elevation of 10,500 feet and the ski area averages about 260 inches of snowfall each year, according to Ski Cooper’s website.  The mountain is currently reporting a base of 24 inches of snow.
