Mall of America attack

BLOOMINGTON, MN – A parent of the five-year-old boy who was thrown from a third-floor balcony at Minnesota’s Mall of America is slowly improving.

The boy, known only as Landen, suffered broken bones and severe head trauma when he plunged 39 or 40 feet to the hard floor of the mall as a result of the attack.

Prosecutors say the suspect in the attack, 24-year-old Emmanual Aranda, told investigators he went to the mall planning to kill an adult but chose the child instead.

They say he was angry and aggressive because the women he approached at the mall wouldn’t talk to him.

Aranda is charged with attempted murder.
