WASHINGTON – A winter storm that blew into Washington state this past week left many animals in a precarious situation.

The storm nearly claimed the life of one calf in Spokane before it was rescued by its owners.

The calf, named Oreo, was found covered in snow and ice and nearly frozen to death.

After they discovered the calf, farmers immediately brought him inside to be unthawed. In order to warm him up, they reportedly rubbed him with a towel in the same motion that his mother would lick him.

According to a local news station in Spokane, Oreo is expected to be okay after thawing out.
