COLORADO SPRINGS – 19 of Colorado Springs’ finest joined the ranks of Medal of Honor honorees Monday.

Monday’s ceremony was the 33rd annual Medal of Valor Luncheon at The Broadmoor Hotel.

At the ceremony, a large crowd got to hear stories of compassion and bravery.

Despite the different awards handed out, Police Chief Carey said everyone who received an award has one thing in common, “their job,” he said.

“Today we are recognizing 19 Colorado Springs Police officers for their professionalism, courage, and commitment to public safety,” Carey said. “As I’ve said in the past, these officers are reluctant participants in today’s event. The way they see it, they were simply doing their job.”

The luncheon is sponsored by the Police Foundation of Colorado Springs and numerous others.
