Fort Carson to welcome home 200 soldiers

FORT CARSON – A homecoming ceremony for approximately 200 Fort Carson Soldiers from the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division will be held Wednesday at the William Reed Special Events Center.

The Mountain Post said this is the first group of soldiers from the brigade to redeploy and several more groups are expected to return in the coming weeks.

The 2nd IBCT, 4th Inf. Div. deployed to Afghanistan in February to support the Resolute Support mission of conducting train, advise, and assist operations that enable Afghan National Defense and Security Forces to increase security and stability in order to prevent terrorist safe havens.

In addition, Fort Carson said one battalion deployed to Kosovo in support of Multinational Battle Group – East, which is part of the larger, NATO-led Kosovo Force.

The homecoming ceremony will begin at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.
