Multiple Denver Police officers facing suspension in disciplinary cases

Posted

Two Denver police officers face 10-day, unpaid suspensions in separate disciplinary cases.

KMGH-TV reports that Lt. Kevin Edling’s suspension begins July 15 after an investigation found he had improperly pepper-sprayed a young man in an incident involving a rowdy crowd last April.

Edling had said a young man threateningly raised his hands, but video from police body worn cameras didn’t support his argument.

Edling has the right to appeal his decision to the Denver Civil Service Commission.

In the other case, The Denver Post reports that officer Armando Cruz will begin serving his suspension later this month.

Cruz pleaded guilty in February to driving while ability impaired.

He was arrested last October in Parker after police received reports about a possibly intoxicated driver nearly hitting two other cars.
