The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC lost a tight game 1-0 to Oklahoma City Energy FC on Saturday night.

Coming off of the win over Las Vegas Lights FC last weekend and the win over FC Denver on Wednesday night, the Switchbacks were looking to keep the good form rolling. The first half consisted of both teams trading possession in the midfield with not very many clear-cut opportunities for either side. Oklahoma City found their opportunities off set pieces, but Steward Ceus had no problems collecting each one. The Switchbacks had a couple chances as well but Pascal Eboussi and Jamal Jack both put their chances over the crossbar.

The second half was more of the same as neither team was creating goal scoring opportunities for the majority of the half. With just eight minutes until the final whistle, Oklahoma City earned a corner kick that Jonathan Brown played to Callum Ross and Ross headed in his first goal of the season, ending a 601-minute scoreless drought for the Energy. In the final eight minutes, the Switchbacks made a couple of attacking substitutions looking for a goal, bringing on Tobenna Uzo and Marty Maybin. In the 88th minute, the two substitutions connected as Maybin got on the end of Uzo’s header, but Matt Van Oekel did well to save Maybin’s attempt.

The Switchbacks are on the road on Wednesday, May 23rd for the third round of the US Open Cup against San Antonio FC. The Switchbacks return home to face Saint Louis FC in USL action on May 26th at 6:00 PM.
