COLORADO SPRINGS — This month’s Teachers First award goes to Ann Pearson, kindergarten teacher at Cheyenne Mountain Elementary School, District 12 in Colorado Springs. During the 7 years in her current position, Miss Pearson goes above and beyond all expectations. Ann created a fun but challenging atmosphere and drives here students to realize their full potential. She helps them realize they can understand big concepts and do hard things.

This job is a dream come true for Miss Pearson, "When I was a child, I knew it immediately... first grade, that I wanted to be a teacher myself. I love CME. This was my children's school, it's my neighborhood school."

Principal Eric Paugh had this to say, "Mrs. Pearson is just an exceptional educator. She truly represents what it means [to be] a teacher who truly captures her student's hearts, who forms relationships first, and will take them to levels they've never expected of themselves, both academically and socially. Her students come out stronger as individuals as well as learners, so we're very fortunate to have her at CME."

Miss Pearson was happily surprised by the award, "I'm feeling so much excitement, completely overwhelmed, and very honored."

This month’s award was presented by our Teachers First sponsor, Liz Price with The Urban Egg and Salsa Brava. Miss Pearson received a gift card for a free happy hour celebration with friends and $500 for classroom supplies.
