Summer is here and it's time to get out of town. Spend a day, a weekend - or longer - Woodland Park is beautiful, peaceful, cooler, uncrowded - and closer than you think!

Mark your calendars! Woodland Park has been selected to host the Stage 5 Start on Friday, August 22! As new additions to the race, Monarch Mountain and Woodland Park offer breathtaking scenery that will add to the overall impact of the race. Stage 5 start city Woodland Park, the "City Above the Clouds," is renowned for its natural beauty and proximity to great outdoor adventures. The event will feature activities all week and lots of activities the day of the race. This event will be fun for the whole family! Mark your calendar to enjoy the race in the City Above the Clouds.

Farmers Market

The summer market has been a lively and hugely popular part of Teller County life since 1991, and was voted Colorado's Favorite Large Farmers Market in 2011! This popular street market features more than 80 vendors.

The 7th Annual Vino & Notes Wine, Food & Jazz Festival benefits Teller County Habitat for Humanity. Relax and unwind with Jazz and Wine - a perfect combination! Make a weekend of it by staying in town and attending the Mountain Arts Festival and Critterfest. There will also be a beer garden at BierWerks brewery.

Manitou Chamber Music Festival

High View Baptist Church, Woodland Park

Join the Woodland Park Arts Alliance/Creative Arts District for a concert featuring Jerilyn Jorgensen, violin and Cullan Bryant, piano. Ms. Jergensen has her Master of Music degree from Juilliard. Mr. Bryant is from New York City and performs over 50 recitals a year. Also featured is the Aviva String Quartet featuring Caroline McCaskey, viola; Molly Reinker, violin; Elizabeth Riley, cello and Sigrun Hardardottir, violin. Other guest artists will also be performing during this concert. Program includes Beethoven, Grieg, Loeffler and Brahms in the form of duets, trios and quintets.

Dinosaur Resource Center-Critter Rescue Roundup

Wolves, Hedgehogs and Dogs, Oh My! This event has been growing each year with many animal rescue and support groups including everyone's favorite, Standing Bear, founder of The Thelma and Flash Hedgehog Rescue. See some wolves up close with Rocky Mountain Wildlife Foundation and enjoy some good food and face painting with the kids. Four free admissions to the museum if you adopt an animal - for use at a later date.

Mountain Arts Festival

If you love art, you will love this outdoor Fine Art Festival. There will be 82 vendors including potters, photographers, jewelry of all varieties, painters, woodworking, and metal work, plus food vendors. There will be Colorado artists as well as artists from many other states. There will be an hourly drawing for a $10 coupon which the winner can spend with any vendor. Admission is free!

25th Annual Mayor's Cup 5K/10K

Bring the family and enjoy a day of recreation. We will begin the morning with the Free Kids Fun Run, then start the 5K/10K Race and wrap up with the Woodland Music Series, "Shades of Blue" Blues & Jazz Concert at the Ute Pass Cultural Center. Kids Fun Run: 6 years & older Half Mile; 2-3 years old 50 Yards; 4-5 years old 100 Yards.

Quilts in the Aspens

Woodland Park Middle School

The eighth annual show of Woodland Park's Quilter's Above the Clouds Quilt Guild, "Quilts in the Aspens" will feature more than 100 quilts and quilted items including traditional bed-sized quilts, lap quilts, wall hangings, art quilts and guild challenge quilts. A collection of vintage quilts will be shown on an antique bed in an old-fashioned bed turning. Several challenge quilts, all including the same vibrant print fabric in some original way, will be exhibited and viewers will vote for their favorite quilt in the challenge. The charity work of the guild will be highlighted in a display of typical quilts and quilted items made by the guild for the benefit of the community. Area quilt stores will be on-site offering items for sale and guild members will be demonstrating various quilting techniques during the show. A boutique will have quilted items for sale.

UPHS offers free public tours the second Saturday of the month from May through September. Come explore the museum buildings and learn some of the history of Ute Pass. Meet at the Museum Center for a guided tour of six historic buildings. Or, take the historic walking tour of downtown Woodland Park. Or both! The gift shop in the Museum Center building will also be open from 10 AM-3 PM.

The Raven Nest Summer Concert Series will present a concert featuring the roots/Americana band "Redraw the Farm" and community potluck. The concert series is supported by the Pikes Peak Community Foundation and Rocky Mountain Highway. Raven Nest concerts are held indoors.

The Rock Gypsies present the 5th annual Rock, Gem and Jewelry Show in the beautiful town of Woodland Park, CO, The City Above the Clouds. With over 40 vendors we have rocks, minerals, crystals, petrified wood, gem stones, fossils, jewelry and much, much more. The Woodland Park High School football team provides food as a fund raiser. We have a digging area for kids to find their own rocks and minerals. Fun for the whole family. FREE admission and parking.

Dinosaur Resource Center-Native American Day

Dinosaur Resource Center

On the front plaza at the Dinosaur Resource Center at 1pm & 2:30pm the Seven Falls Indian Dancers will perform Native American dancing (weather permitting). Native American Art, Jewelry & Crafts will be displayed. See some wolves up close with Rocky Mountain Wildlife Foundation and enjoy some good food. Come and join the fun!
