PUEBLO, CO- She saved a life by joining the bone marrow registry, and now she's asking others in our area to do the same.
People headed to Pueblo's Rawlings Library on Saturday to sign up for the National Marrow Donor Program.
Kristin Taylor knows personally what good signing up can do. She was a match last year for a leukemia patient.
Taylor says it does take a time commitment when the match is made, and the medication she took to help her produce more marrow made her a bit achy.
"There's a give and take. Can I feel achy for a week and save someone's life? Sure, and I would do it again," Taylor said. "I just want to make a difference, and I think Pueblo can make a difference and that's why I'm doing this."
Taylor also stressed that Pueblo and all of Southern Colorado is culturally diverse, and people of all different ethnic backgrounds are needed for the registry. Thirty-three people showed up for this event.
The next bone marrow registry event in Pueblo is Saturday, May 19 from 11am-3pm at ABC Home Health Care & Personal Services Inc. at 2320 N. Grand Avenue.
