Posted 9:25 AM 6/27/2012 : Update: Waldo Canyon Fire

The Waldo Canyon Fire has caused 32,500 people to be evacuated in Colorado Springs and El Paso County.

At a morning news conference, officials said structures were lost in the last 24 hours, but they don't have a good count at this point.

Firefighting efforts continue with hundreds of additonal personnel on the way.

15,324 acres have burned and the containment remains at 5%.

The plan for the day is structure protection in the evacuated areas and to try and get a number of how many homes were damaged or destroyed.

I-25 is open in both directions and Highway 24 remains closed from Cave of the Winds to Crystola.

There are no new evacuations in effect at this time.

Summit Elementary in Divide, Cheyenne Mountain High School at 1200 Cresta Road, the southeastern YMCA at 2190 Jet Wing Drive and Lewis Palmer High School, 1300 Higby in Monument.
