Colorado Springs Police now believe a man who died after a crash on Wednesday killed himself. The man has been identified as Benjamin Corson, 27. Fort Carson confirms he was a soldier and was absent without leave.
Police were searching for a man they believed to be armed and dangerous late Wednesday morning. Officers said the suspect appeared to have lost control of his vehicle as they chased him. He crashed through a fence in La Cresta Estates on Murray Boulevard. Investigators believe he shot himself as he attempted to get away.
He's believed responsible for three armed robberies in Colorado Springs in the last week.

A robbery suspect ended up going to the hospital in critical condition and he created a big mess on Colorado Springs southeast side. He tried to get away from police at a very high rate of speed and lost control of his truck.
It happened just before noon Wednesday on Murray Boulevard by Le Cresta Estates. "The guy hit the curb, hit a car, went through fencing and then landed right over there. It was insane, said witness, Matt Quick."
Officers had been looking for a suspect wanted for a string or robberies. They had a warrant and thought they spotted him just a couple of blocks from where the crash happened. The officers were in plain clothes, but it appears the suspect also spotted them and took off. Minutes later he crashed. He was taken to the hospital with injuries described as critical.
