LARKSPUR - Investigators with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office searched the home of Denver Nuggets player Chris "Birdman" Andersen Thursday and seized some of his is property.
Sheriff's office spokeswoman Deborah Sherman said deputies with the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit have been looking into Andersen since receiving a lead from a California law enforcement agency in February.
Sherman said Andersen was at home during the search and cooperated with deputies.
"Our investigators took this lead in February and they followed it up diligently and thoroughly just like they would any other case like this," she said.
A statement from the Denver Nuggets stated that Andersen has been excused from all team activities indefinitely.
The 6 ' 10" Andersen was a power forward/ center for the Nuggets. He first joined the team in 2001 played for three seasons. Andersen then played for the New Orleans Hornets from 2004 - 2006 and for the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2008. He returned to the Nuggets during the 2008 season.

DENVER (AP) - Douglas County sheriff's deputies have searched the home of popular Denver Nuggets center Chris "Birdman" Andersen.
Sheriff's spokesman Ron Hanavan confirmed that the search took place Thursday as part of an investigation conducted by the department's Internet Crimes Against Children unit. Andersen has not been arrested and Hanavan said no arrest warrant has been issued.
The department began investigating Andersen in February after receiving information from a law enforcement agency in California. Hanavan declined to release details, including the nature of any pending charges, citing an ongoing investigation. He says they're asking that the case be sealed.
The Denver Nuggets had no immediate comment.
A message left at Andersen's home wasn't immediately returned Thursday.

DENVER - Denver Nuggets center Chris "Birdman" Andersen's home is the target of an ongoing investigation in a suspected Internet criminal case,according to our Denver sister station 9News.
Douglas County Sheriff's Office Internet Crimes Against Children investigators seized property from Andersen's home in Larkspur.
Investigators have an ongoing investigation that began from a referral from a California law-enforcement agency. Deputies recovered property from the residence they believe is connected to the ongoing case.
Andersen has not been arrested in connection with this investigation. Deputies did say they have been investigating Andersen since February 2012.
