Students at Mitchell High School celebrated their diverse cultural make up Tuesday with a lunch-hour pot luck and afternoon asseembly.
Spanish teacher Dolores Borrero organized the Multicultural Celebration and says the school is unique in that so many first and second generation immigrants attend classes here.
The students and their families come from as many as 18 different nationalities including Mexico, Puerto Rico, Panama, Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Iraq and China to name a few. Borrero says she's proud that melting pot is so pronounced in her school.
"It's okay that we're not all the same but we're the same at the same time," she said. "We can just celebrate it and when you come here you can be proud of who you are and we can be just American."
