It's National Adoption Month and agencies are looking to get kids home for the holidays.
In 2008, there were 800 childrend awaiting adoption in Colorado. Now, because of families pairing up with programs like Wait No More, there are just 275.
In Colorado Springs, the Wahl family adopted Amada Olivera two weeks before her eighteenth birthday. As it tends to be more difficult for older kids in foster care to find homes, Amanda considers her newly acquired family a "blessing."
Amanda and her mother, Gail Wahl, say both the child and family have to equally compromise to get through the ups and downs.
"If you're looking for beauty and just a fuller quiver of children, that's not a good enough reason. You need to do it because you want to help change a child's life and give them consistent love," Gail says.
There are 2,100 families in the process of adoption. All are hoping to get their kids home for the hoolidays.
