More than 30 million Americans are bothered by migraine headaches. For many, the pain is so severe, it stalls their lives while they desperately seek relief.  Now a doctor has developed a pair of glasses that really work for some patients.

Dr. Brad Katz is the University of Utah Neuro-Opthalmologist who invented the pair of coated glasses.

80-90% of migraine patients have light sensitivity, and the glasses block wavelengths of light that can trigger the headaches. Dr. Katz worked with a university photonics researcher to design the form-fitting frames that prevent any ambient light from coming in around the sides.

Clincal trials are expected to begin next month, and Dr. Katz hopes the non-perscription glasses will be available to patients by 2014.
