A Pueblo West man is dead after he crashed a motorcycle into the side of a dump truck while trying to evade State Troopers.

A State Patrol airplane had clocked the 2008 Honda speeding on I-25 at around 9:30 a.m. around mile marker 114, about 10 miles north of Pueblo.  When he failed to stop for Troopers on the ground they gave chase.  According to the State Patrol report he crossed the median and headed southbound and then went west on Purcell Boulevard into Pueblo West. He was believed doing more than 100 miles an hour at times.

On McCulloch he attempted to pass a dump truck, which turned left in front of him.  The driver, later identified as a 31-year-old man from Pueblo West, died from severe injuries.  His name has not been released.  The driver of the dump truck was not hurt.  A one-mile section of McCulloch was closed from Idledale to Industrial for much of the day.

The motorcycle had been reported stolen in Colorado Springs on July 15.
