A new exhibit called "Faces of the Fire" puts on display the human side of the Waldo Canyon Fire. It is the creative work of local photographer Wendy Nelson and local writer Liz Cobb who teamed up for the project.
While Cobb interviewed and documented the stories of people impacted by the fire, Nelson would take pictures. "As they were remembering and sharing that story, the flow of emotions would come over them and I would take the images," said Nelson. The resulting pictures and stories are now on display.
Faces of the Fire, is located at the Gold Hill Mesa neighborhood exchange center in Colorado Springs. It is at the corner of Gold Hill Mesa Drive and Raven Mine Drive. It is open to the public Wednesday to Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The exhibit is up through the end of the summer.
