Posted 5:01 PM 3/6/2012 : AG: consumer complaints up in Colorado
If you've had a business deal go bad, you know the feeling. It was a car sale that stands out to Terry Henderson.
"Luckily we caught it before we sent the money back to him," says Henderson. He says he was nearly a victim.
Not everyone dodges the bullet.
Colorado's Attorney General's office says consumer complaints are up more than 50 percent in just a couple of years across the state. Last year they received 7,297.
Here's a list of the top ten types of businesses receiving complaints in 20-11:

The Attorney General's office says numbers have been increasing, but they believe it's because consumers are more familiar with how to file complaints.
At the Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado they're actually seeing fewer complaints -- both locally and nationally. They say consumers are doing their research; 30 percent more people visited their site in the last year.
"People are checking before they do business, and if they do that then they're going to have fewer problems," says Carol Odell, with the Better Business Bureau.
Ever since having his close call, Henderson does his homework.
"You just have to be really careful," says Henderson.
