Local student wins national art award

A local high school student has earned national acclaim for her drawing and will be awarded at a ceremony at Carnegie Hall later this month. Eleventh grader Karissa Gonzalez-Othon from the Vanguard School in Colorado Springs will receive a silver medal for her drawing titled "City Silhouette" at the Scholastic... more » -

On Tuesday, The Broadmoor Hotel hosted a dining extravaganza...all in the name of aspiring chefs. Local residents purchased tickets for the fifth annual "Taste of The Broadmoor" benefit dinner, which featured dishes made by the hotel's start-studded culinary team. A scholarship fund has been set up in honor of a Lewis Palmer High School student who was killed in a traffic accident over Spring Break. Organizers of the Levi Patrick Memorial Scholarship Fund hope to award the first scholarships before graduation this school year. An anonymous donor... more »
