A controversial program is taking root in Colorado's jails. It's called Secure Communities and it's designed to check a person's immigration status. Tight budgets have lawmakers looking everywhere for areas needing reform. Saturday, State Representative Dennis Apuan and State Senator John Morse held a meeting discussing our correctional system. Apuan says in 1985 we were spending around $70 million a year on corrections, and now its more than $700 million.... more »
