Mother Nature gave the pilots of the Colorado Balloon Classic a beautiful send off Monday morning. Memorial Park was filled with color as 62 balloons took to the skies above Colorado Springs.

The Colorado Balloon Classic in Memorial Park was off to a fabulous start today. Yesterday, winds were over 40mph, preventing balloons from launching. Today, winds died down and balloons took flight.

The Colorado Springs Parks and Recreation Department has announced longer year-round hours for motorized and non-motorized boating at Prospect Lake in Memorial Park. However, open water swimming is still prohibited and the beach and swim area will stay closed this summer.

Colorado Springs Police are trying to figure out how a grenade ended up in Memorial Park. Police tell News First 5 if it had gone off---it could have hurt someone.

Memorial Park has been cleared after a suspicious device was found near a children's playground. Officers say the item looks like a hand grenade, however it may be a geo-cache. They won't know what it is exactly until they blow it up.

Police in Colorado Springs are on the scene of a suspicious device in Memorial Park. Officers think it's a geo-cache, but they aren't taking any chances. The pollywog playground for little ones is blocked off while the investigation goes on.

The Energizer Bunny Hot "Hare" Balloon will visit Colorado Springs next month for the annual balloon classic.

On Friday Colorado Springs Firefighters jumped into action after a dog fell into the ice twice at Prospect Lake. "That dog wasn't in the water very long." explains Travis Allen, one of the firefighters who saved the dog, "It was cold and shivering and it was extremely exhausted."

Final preparations were made, Friday, for Saturday's ceremony at the National Firefighters Memorial in Colorado Springs. Family of the fallen heroes have been arriving in town all week, and many spent the day at the memorial.

After too much fog on Saturday, the 33rd Annual Colorado Balloon Classic at Memorial Park launched dozens of balloons Sunday morning. The mass ascension was delayed about an hour as balloon of all shapes and sizes launched at around 8:00 a.m.

The 33rd Annual Colorado Balloon Classic got "fogged" out Saturday morning. Organizers had to cancel the mass launch due to foggy conditions. Many of the balloons were cleared by the FAA to inflate and tether.
