Global oil demand seen stronger than expected

The International Energy Agency says it has raised its forecast for global oil demand this year and next following new data showing stronger-than-expected economic growth, especially in rich developed economies. Economy loses speed in spring; more weakness ahead

The nation's economic growth tailed off sharply in the spring and probably isn't faring any better now. The Commerce Department reports that the economy expanded at a feeble 1.7 percent annual rate in the April-to-June quarter.
