WINTER PARK, Colo. (AP) - Only a handful of Colorado ski resorts will have their lifts running after this weekend. Winter Park is closing for the season Sunday. A Colorado climate scientist says midwinter snowstorms could stay south of the state's ski areas this season because of an El Nino pattern. Snowmaking underway at Copper Mountain

That nip in the air you felt this morning is a downright shudder in the mountains. That cold is being met with delight at Copper Mountain, where snowmaking is underway. Copper is shooting for a Nov. 6 opening weekend festival, with ski and snowboard films, free live music and giveaways.... more »
