Kids collect dozens of autographs during U.S. Open practice round

COLORADO SPRINGS -

10-year-old Caden, 10-year-old Madison, and 6-year-old Annabelle found they had the best luck asking for autographs a the putting green on the East Course, as well as the tunnel where players exited from the 18th hole to go into the clubhouse.

"They're all interested in golf so they share that together.  They're different ages, so they don't always

have stuff in common.  So it's really fun to see them watching the shots and seeing the players and just

experiencing it together," said their dad, Chris Reid.

Caden said he was initially nervous to ask for an autograph, because he wasn't sure how the pros would respond.

Reid admits he was, too.

"I was really worried how they would do--if they would be nervous or how the players would react."

But he says the pros were not only accommodating, but also willing to have a conversation with the kids.

"I think they appreciate it, too.  They know these kids are going to be the future of the sport.  I think

it's great."

Caden estimates he got 45 signatures in just a few hour's time.

The 10-year-old also told News5 he was happy to have his sisters by his side, while asking for autographs.

"I felt like it was a little bit easier," he said.

The next challenge, according to the family, will be figuring out which signature correlates with which golf pro.

"Deciphering the autographs--I think that's going to be step 1.  But we've got the program, we've got

photos, and we've got a whole week worth of memories," said Reid.

"Right now, they don't really know who they're talking to.  But as they get older, they're going to start

remembering these guys and remembering autographs and remembering the experience," he added.

Round 1 of the U.S. Senior Open starts Thursday.
