Wildlife officers and Colorado Springs Firefighters rescue bear cub

Posted: Updated:

Colorado Parks and Wildlife Officers with the help of Colorado Springs Fire crews rescued a baby bear cub from a tree in Colorado Springs Friday.

The bear was near the Hillside Community Center and had to be lured onto a ladder and then lowered into a kennel.

Wildlife officers described the cub as orphaned on twitter and they said the bear will be taken to a rehabilitation center.

They chronicled the rescue on twitter and said the rescue was used as a teaching moment for neighborhood kids who came to watch the rescue unfold.

Later Friday evening, CPW tweeted pictures of another rescue, this time the bear cub was found under a steel beam at the Drake Power Plant.

The cub is believed to be the sibling of the one in the tree. This cub was tranquilized and will also be taken to a rehabilitation center.
