The latest wildfire to force evacuations in Colorado required a familiar response Tuesday.
The Buffalo Mountain Fire began in Summit County near Silverthorne around 11 a.m. Tuesday. The fire is burning at the bottom of Buffalo Mountain and close to a pair of subdivisions.
Summit Fire & EMS Chief Jeff Berino said firefighters did not directly attack the flames due to safety concerns.
"The fire grew extremely rapidly. As a result, we called in an aggressive air attack," Berino said.
As the second alarm rang, Berino and other incident management staff called for air resources almost immediately.
